Weekend comes and I want nothing more than to do nothing.
Again.
Suspecting trouble, I draw my attention close-in and hear an inner voice caution: your life depends on what you do next.
Immediately, I understand. I am under siege by Lethargy. Either I suffer the fate of an innocent among wolves or wake up to the presence of this shadowy predator–well known to feed on the vitality, momentum and creative aspirations of others.
As a child I loved reading about the magical adventures of other children and envied their transformational powers. As an adult, I recognize such powers are of an inner, imaginative kind … and available for summons.
I summons Determination as my power and grab Work as my weapon. Armed with their transformative magic, I enter the Land of Undone Chores and attack Lethargy.
Clean the aquarium! Vacuum floors! Chop vegetables! Tidy the office, run to the post office and pick-up groceries. Each conquest weakens Lethargy and strengthens me. Two days the battle lasts and, many chores later, vitality is restored.
Peace and prosperity return to the land … for now.
